OBAMA for PRESIDENT!

Labor for Obama: Click HereClick Here to view Obama's site

"We're ready to take the offense for organized labor. It's time we have a President who didn't choke saying the word 'union.' We need to strengthen our unions by letting them do what they do best --- organize our workers. If a majority of workers want a union, they should get a union. It's that simple. We need to stand up to the business lobby that's been getting their friends in Congress and in the White House to block card check. That's why I was one of the leaders fighting to pass the Employee Free Choice Act. That's why I'm fighting for it in the Senate. And that's why we'll make it the law of the land when I'm President."

Barack Obama, Dubuque, IA, November 13, 2007

Rosters Merged with Work by Location

The tables under these headings present another way of looking at the driver rosters of those locations where merging the rosters is proposed than the way the information was shown in Solidarity Road. These tables show Greyound drivers and the annual wages of the jobs in each location in black merged with the subsidiary company's drivers and jobs in red.

Subsidiary locations in which there are no Greyhound drivers simply show all the drivers and the work as they are now in red.

Carolina Trailways Run Bids

Grievance Report

As of 27 January, Region 2 had 46 active grievances.

Runarounds

I continue to see an unusually high number of grievances on runarounds. Most that get to my desk are found to have no merit and are withdrawn and the grievant notified of the withdrawal with the reasons.

Greivance Information

Recently, I received several grievances with no information what so ever as to what happened. Usually the grievant states, "the contract was violated" or "Article O-2 (x) was violated". The grievant does not provide any information as to what happened, who was involved, what date and time it took place, where it took place, no schedule numbers, nothing. It is very difficult to nearly impossible to process, investigate, and prepare such grievances and could result in the grievance being withdrawn due to lack of information. Remember: WHAT, WHEN, WHERE, WHO WAS INVOLVED.

Greivance Not Provided Union

Recently I discovered several grievances where the grievance was filed with the Company but the grievant never provided a copy to the Union. If you want your grievance processed, it is your responsibility to see that the Union has a copy of your grievance.

2nd Rest Penalties

There seems to be a bit of confusion about when the 2nd rest penalty applies. The $50 2nd rest penalty will only apply to "DRIVING" or "DHOC" assignments as stated in the CBA.

Some drivers have filed claims for the $50 penalty when they were put to bed for the third time. The CBA does not provide for payment of such claims.

Executive Board Meeting

The next Executive Board meeting is tentatively scheduled for the week of August 10 in Chicago. Check back for confirmation of date and venue.
