Contract books have finally started reaching members’ mailboxes. It took slightly longer this time around than three years ago to get delivery of the hard copies, owing entirely to multiple printer errors. The books in your hands now are late, but at least they are correct. If you did not receive a contract book, please call the Union office and leave a message with your address. We will make sure each Local 1700 member receives a copy of the contract.
The deal we have always had with the company is that we split the cost of printing contract books and the company uses its mail room to mail them out. That’s why the return address on the envelope is Greyhound’s. The contract, as you know, is an agreement between two parties. Both sides are bound by its terms. The executive board is conducting its summer executive board meeting this week in Chicago. There will be a general membership meeting on Wednesday evening. See the bulletin boards in Chicago for the time and location. One of the important items on the agenda this week is the CADEC issue. We’ll be taking a very close look at the CADEC system, its uses, and its software. I’ll report back from our discussions after the meeting. |
