A long day of bargaining yesterday ended without an agreement on a new contract. The Union negotiating committee is not discouraged by that; we’re just more determined to get the company to agree on the issues that members have told us are important.
The company still seems willing to discuss changes in the way drivers’ jobs are structured, and we think we have made significant progress in many areas. But nothing is settled unless and until everything is settled.
We’ll be in bargaining all day again today, and if we don’t get a deal today, Valentine’s Day will be spent in bargaining, too. Maybe on Valentine’s Day we can get a "sweetheart deal" for Local 1700 members.
