Karen Miller Appointed to ATU International

ATU 1700's picture

Region 4 Vice President Karen Miller has been appointed to the position of ATU International Representative.  She will begin her new duties immediately.  Her appointment is very good for the ATU and, in spite of Local 1700’s loss, it will ultimately be very good for our Local as well, as Karen will serve the interests of over-the-road bus workers as well as every ATU member.   All Local 1700 members wish Karen well in her new assignment.

To fill in for Karen for the time being, the remaining Regional Vice Presidents will take on different responsibilities.  Region 4 locations that will be administered by Region 2 Vice President Bill White are Abilene, Dallas, Houston, Jackson, Mobile, New Orleans, and Shreveport.  Region 4 locations that will be administered by Region 3 Vice President Ronald A. Jordan are Kansas City and Memphis.  Region 4 locations that will be administered by Region 5 Vice President Eddie Bailey are Albuquerque, Amarillo, El Paso, Oklahoma City, San Antonio, and Tulsa.

These shifts create imbalances in numbers of members, so to partly rectify those imbalances, a few other changes will be made until further notice:  Region 1 Vice President James Kennedy will administer Fayetteville, Norfolk, Raleigh, Richmond, and Roanoke.  Region 3 Vice President Ronald A. Jordan will administer Albany, Boston, and White River Junction.

This temporary realignment of locations will continue until the Local 1700 Executive Board meets to review the distribution of represented employees and to set the regions for the new term of union office to begin next January.

Once again, let’s all give a very hearty Local 1700 shout of Congratulations to Karen Miller and extend to her our very best wishes for success in her new job.
