Contract Extended

Bargaining into the evening of the final day of the union contract has failed to produce a deal. We will continue to talk, though, and hope that we can come to some kind of compromise on the outstanding items. In order to continue these talks, we have agreed to extend the terms of the current contract for another two weeks. Tomorrow we meet again, and we will continue to try to reach a deal on the big issues – wages and health care coverage – and then go on to taking further stabs at reaching consensus on work rule issues.
