My name is Luke Franco and I have been working on the ATU 1700 Web site with Bruce Hamilton in the national office. Currently, I am working on making the "Members Section" of our site more useful.   I've decided to begin keeping a blog so that people can keep tabs on whats going on with Local 1700's web site and the new features and programs we are enacting.

A Call To All Stewards!

As part of our organizing efforts, we are setting up a stewards section in each region.  From here members will have an easy way to contact stewards by either email or telephone.  Also, with permission, we can post a photograph and biographical information of all the stewards.  Stewards will be able to post any information that they like such as personal statements that can be read by the members in their locations.  As a National local, we are utilizing the internet to create a strong sense of community among our members, and to allow them to communicate with each other.  This will make our Union stronger.

As a steward, you are our first point of contact to get the Unions' message out to the membership -- we need you to lead and take chage of your location.  The first step you can take is to make sure that you have an account on the ATU 1700 web site.  If you have an account on the web site already that's great.  If not, setting one up is very easy - just go to www.atu1700.org and click "Create New Account" (found on the left side of the homepage).  If you have a picture of yourself you can upload that to your profile also. 

As our Stewards section progresses, I'll be contacting you if I need anymore information or assistance.  Once you have an account on the site, you will be included on our Stewards mailing list which we will use from time to time for important news.  We'll be contacting you with any new developments.
